My New Love

Earlier this year, I entered a contest by Dasani/Coke, and right afterwards I received an email informing me I won a BIKE and that it would take 8-12 weeks to be delivered.

So as time went by, I completely forgot about the winning. Till one day...I received another email, saying my bike had been shipped! Yay! :)

Then it arrived.

 I'm in LOVE with it!!
I feel like a kid on Christmas. :)

I went for an hour long bike ride yesterday.
Amaze-balls!!

What an awesome work out.
Thought I'd share, I not only workout by running, and a variety of Beachbody workout programs, but now I've fallen in love with cycling. Even though my bike isn't a high speed bike, I love it, and I love riding on it. That's all that matters, right??

Hump Day

Happy Wednesday everyone!!!

I can't believe next week is going to be July already! Crazy how time flies by. I remember being in elementary or even high school and how the school year would drrrrraaaaaaag on and the summer felt like eternity. Why can't adults have 3 months off for summer break? Haha. :) One can dream right?

Almost forget to mention, yesterday was the half way point to Christmas!! I don't even want to begin thinking about snow. I think I was meant to live by the beach. Someday!!

Just a random rambling post. Have a great day!

Baby steps

Remember back to my first post about my weight loss process? Well if not, I mentioned what helped me PUSH through my one year plateau, YES I said ONE YEAR!! The answer was an Eat Clean challenge group on Facebook. I've done two eat clean groups total and I've lost 12lbs and I've kept with it.

What's a Challenge group you might be wondering?

A challenge group is a private Facebook group that becomes a community of others who have the same goals as you. Usually consisting anywhere from 5-10 members, and honestly one of the best ways to keep yourself motivated. It's also an exciting way to get the constant inspiration and encouragement you need to stay committed and achieve your fastest results.

I'm starting a challenge group beginning on July 1st, it's on a Monday so not only the beginning of a new week, but the start of a new month!

How convenient is that?!

-2 weeks
-Private Facebook group
-Share your struggles, and your triumphs
-Make friends
-PUSH yourself
-Eat Clean
-Win prizes

Making Yourself A Prioirty.

I'm a people pleaser, which isn't necessarily a bad trait but only to a certain point. I need time to myself, I need time to do whatever I want without feeling rushed, or that I have to surpass someone's expectations. Silly isn't it? NO! Everyone deserves a little "me" time, so just like your work schedule, your doctor appointments you should schedule in your "me" time. Start now!!!

Here's a few tips on to do so.

1. First, you need to decide that you do DESERVE some time to yourself each day. Remember, self-time is not selfish—it's a necessary dimension of self-care!

2. Decide how best to spend "me" time. If you were given an extra 15, 30, 60 minutes a day, what would you do in that time to spam to make you happy??

3. Evaluate the things that are wasting your time each day. Facebooking constantly? Playing games? Checking your phone constantly for notifications? Whatever it is, you must take the time to organize your responsibilities. Begin now!

4. Learn to say "no" to things that you don't really want to, don't value or don't bring you satisfaction and joy. (something I'm still personally working on)

5. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

6. At the beginning of each week, take a few minutes to designate specific time slots for all that must be accomplished—including "me" time. Treat your personal time like you would any other appointment and make it non-negotiable.

7. Commit to a minimum of 15-20 minutes of "me" time every day. Do something (or nothing) that completely lets go of responsibilities and releases your mind, allowing you to be alone with your thoughts. Yoga? Reading a book? Taking a cat nap? Going for a walk? Blasting your music and zoning everything out? Whatever it is, you need treat yourself as a priority.

8. Create a daily ritual. This can be a bath, listening to music, taking a walk or meditating. Make it something you can look forward to.

Compete With Yourself

It's hard not to compare yourself to others. It's even harder when you're trying to lose weight/get fit, but you need to keep in mind, you're not competing against them, you're competing against YOURSELF!! You should never try to be better than someone else, you should only try to improve the person that you are.

Watermelon, Does A Body Good

Watermelon is my favorite fruit, especially in the summer time!! This morning at 9am it was already so humid outside here in Northwest Ohio. It's suppose to reach the mid 80's today, hot and humid weather makes me crave watermelon!! It's my favorite!! Who knew it's packed with potassium, and contains Vitamins C, B6, and A. Delicious if you ask me! Go out and get yourself a tasty watermelon today. It will help quench your thirst.

Change doesn't happen overnight.

Remember: You didn't put the weight on overnight, so why expect it to melt away overnight?? It takes time!

Peace, Love and A little About Me

Where to begin...?

I'm Jen, and I'm shy of turning 30 by 3 years. I've been struggling with my weight since I was in Middle School, but up until last year I never put any real effort into losing weight. I had my "aha!" moment last January after looking at pictures of myself and now recognizing who I had turned into it. I'm not saying people who are overweight aren't beautiful, I believe everyone is beautiful in their own ways. But I honestly didn't know I who was anymore, I knew from the pictures that I didn't look happy, not one bit. I honestly felt disconnected from myself. So after updating to a smart phone and reuniting with technology and my peers. I came across a Couch to 5k app, 2 seconds later it was downloaded to my phone, that was the easy part. Now the hard part followed.

For those who unfamiliar with the Couch to 5k program, it's a nine week long regime consisting of 3x a week to help slowly build up your running endurance. The only thing I did differently was I ran 5x a week instead of 3x a week. At this time of my life I also decided to give up fast food, and pop, junk food! February 1st, 2012 began day 1!! I slowly fell in love with running! I hate the first 5 minutes of running, but after pushing through it, I remember how WORTH it is to keep going. Time flew by, and I found myself on the last day of the C25k program, where you should be able to run for 30 minutes straight (approx 3 miles), I remember reaching the end of the trail I run on, and I teared up. I had this overwhelming feeling, I was so proud of myself! At that moment in the 26 years of my life, I never believed in myself as much as I did at that moment. A feeling that's unexplainable and everyone should experience in their lifetime.

I repeated the C25k program, and before I knew it the month of May had arrived. My weight loss at this time was 50 lbs!!! Craziness! Then...

BOOM!! Weight loss plateau hit, and it hit me hard! I still was exercising, running 3-5x a week, and eating healthy, but the scale wasn't budging. So frustrating! The before I knew it winter hit. I live in Ohio and our winters can either be spring/fall mixed with a hint of mother nature mood swings, or they can be BAM! Winterwonderland for 4-5 months. I don't know about you, but I need sunshine to motivate me, I need it to feel alive! Reason for my long-term goal: To live near the beach one day.

I wasn't seeing the finish line for my weight loss plateau, I had convinced myself, "maybe this is the lowest I can get my weight." Then Beachbody came into my life. Thanks to instagram! I started following people with motivational pictures, and I ended up finding a Beachbody coach. I began researching their products. At first I was skeptical, then I started learning more and more about what they do. Instead of being salespeople, they help and encourage people to lose weight. I believe everyone needs a little push (sometimes a shove!) from time to time. I became a coach soon after, and I joined a challenge group belonging to my coach. The group focused on eating clean. This is what I needed to jump-start my weight loss again!! I began losing 2 lbs a week! YES!! I was so excited and still am.

So I decided to start a blog to share my journey, cause it's not over, I'm just beginning. :
